Painting Bretonnia peasent bowmen, old models

Hello everybody!

Today, we will show you how we painted Bretonnia archer. We aimed to paint them in something like "Robin Hood" scheme and we were quite happy with result. We thought about various combinations, but we finally decided for a quick and easy combination. This way you can have whole or at least half a squad painted in couple of hours and you get very nice table top quality models.

So here we go:

paints and materials:
Goblin green
Bestial brown
Bubonic brown
Scorched brown
Vermin brown
Snakebite leather
Elf flesh
Mechrite red
Chainmail
Skull white
Devlan mud wash
Badab black wash
Gryphonne sepia wash (or ogryn flash)
Citadel standard brush

1. first, whole model was airbrushed with goblin green. We didn´t bother with undercoat because we used goblin green as undercoat. We tryed to paint with easy and quick techique and as you will see, it turned out to be quite successful.

2. next, we painted leggings and part around head (sorry, we dont know how its called :D ) with bestial brown.

3. then, we painted shoes with vermin brown, arrows with scorched brown and bow with bubonic brown. Belt and knife holder were painted with snakebite leather:

4. after paint is dry, we painted face and hands with elf flesh, buttons, buckle on the belt, parts of knife holder and helmet with chainmail. Feathers on arrows were paitned with skull white. Handle of the knife was painted with mechrite red.

5. step 5 is to wash whole model with devlan mud, except for face and helmet. Face is washed with gryphonne sepia (you can use ogryn flash) and helmet and metal parts are washed with badab black. Also, wash feathers on arrows with badab black. I just LOVE washes! =)
For face and hands you can also use BLEACHED BONE AND OGRYN FLASH WASH

6. And its done. Quick and simple. It took me about an hour to paint this model. Of course, when you have 10 or 20 models, it would take about 3-4 hours to paint them because when you finish painting one step, those first models will be dry! =)

Picture of whole squad:

Cheers!
